Morning Phil,
Very impressed with the performance of the Infinium so far (s/n 32079530), nice and quiet on the red hot basaltic soil around Bathurst and all the miserable, annoying hot rocks that I used to find with my XT17000 are gone. I like the audio tone on the Garrett's, and I can usually tell what the target is before having to resort to discrimination. It seems to find .22 leads very well and I have nearly found enough bullets to start shooting back. I also had to get a bigger pick to dig the deeper holes. I guess you could say I have found gold while using the machine, but not directly. In the first case the Infinium detected a nail in a crevice (which sounded like iron, but I checked anyway) and while down on my hands & knees I spied a little nugget of a couple of grains sitting beside the nail. In the second case, I found a large area of old surfacing and gave it a good going over, but had to sit down for a rest and a smoke, and then specked a nugget sitting right beside me on top of the heap, again only a couple of grains, but nice and bright from sitting on the surface for a few years. Both pieces are not big enough for the 14" DD coil to get a response. I really need the 8" mono coil and would appreciate it if you could let me know the minute it becomes available. Also, thanks for supplying a full set of batteries with the machine, much appreciated. With the spring weather starting to warm up, I'll have to find my snorkel & flippers and get down in some of the deep holes of the mighty Turon.

Thanks & Regards
