Finally a Discriminator that works!
The Garrett Infinium is definately an assett for the serious detectorist. After a short
familiarization with the unit
I went off and tested it in some very trashy ground around Laverton in Western Australia.
After selecting an area in which I had previously found a run of nuggets on the side of a
hill that became unworkable
due to the amount of trash at the bottom, I ventured into the "junk" to see how
good the Garrett discriminator system
worked.
After 15 minutes of detecting and disregarding about 10 targets also using the reverse
discrimination technique, one
target faded away beautifully at around discriminate level "2" on the machine...
"hmmm I thought :) "
Digging down 3 inches I uncovered a neat 21.6 gram specie/nugget!
Considering the amount of rubbish in this area, there is no doubt in my mind that this
peice would have remained
covered forever to detectorists had it not been for this detector.
We have all come across places where the rubbish has put us off from covering potentially
good areas, with the
Garrett Infinium's discriminator system, I look forward to many further ventures into the
trashy and therefore
previously unworked areas.
The overall quietness of this detector in hot ground is also outstanding and I found that
hot rocks were practically
non existant compared to the Minelab Extreme and SD2200 that were also operating in the
same area.
I'll be back with some more reports as they come to hand.
Cheers,
G.
