 Infinium/GP Test under Power LInes

I tested my Infinium against my G P under two sets of Power Lines just North of Melbourne today. Firstly under High Voltage Power lines next to where they crossed a tarred road and then under Power lines(not the high voltage type) next to a tarred road. On both occasions I used a 14inch Coiltec DD coil on the GP as I considered this was a fair test against the Infinium 10X14inch DD Infinium coil.

UNDER HIGH VOLTAGE LINES:- GP set to cancel mode for under power lines. After tuning the threshold was reasonably stable but not as stable as normal whereas the Infinium threshold after careful tuning was not as quiet or stable as the GP. Upon detecting a unplanted target with the GP the signal was very evident and was a deep throated type of sound that could not be missed. When passing the Infinium over the same target the signal was maybe not quite as loud as the GP and was of a higher pitched sound - Although the sound was not as loud as the GP it could be heard easily by a person who had his mind on the job.

Whilst testing the target with the Infinium I left the GP turned on as some people say it takes the GP a few minuites to "settle down". When I returned to the GP 11 minuites had passed since switching it on but I did not notice any difference from the first swings. I dug the target and it turned out to be one of the old type ring pulls at about 2 inches.

I then proceded to the normal power lines and tested again. The Infinium was a lot quieter as was the GP and detecting was easy. One thing I noticed was when you swung the Infinium over the target and returned it back over the target the threshold seemed to go absolutly guiet and you only heard the target signal as you passed back and forward over it. I was in FIXED and so there was no danger of the target balancing out.

Hope someone else can try the same and report back - maybe some of you negative people who have never probably even seen an Infinium and almost surely have never handled one could cut out all the C--P and try to be objective. I own an Infinium and a GP and don’t have to justify to myself or anyone else as to its performance. I do these reports and tests in the interests of our hobby and to try to be of help to others.

 See you out there. -
